LipiFlow
There are over 340 million people worldwide who suffer from dry eye, which is primarily caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction or MGD.
Many people have learned to live with eye discomfort and have become dependent on drops or other treatment methods that may offer short term relief. But now, there’s a new medical device specifically for Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) that is shown to improve gland function, called the LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation System.
LipiFlow Treatment
LipiFlow is a 12-minute in-office treatment designed to remove blockages from the Meibomian glands, allowing them to function properly and produce the oils needed that make up the top protective lipid layer of the tear film. These oils are essential for a healthy tear film, stable vision, and ocular comfort. We use LipiFlow Activators that safely and comfortably provide a combination of heat to the inner lids and simultaneous therapeutic motion to the outer lids, almost like a massage. The best results are usually experienced 6-8 weeks after treatment.
Financing Options
Although our office accepts most major insurance plans, the Lipiflow treatment is not a covered service. However, we do accept financing through CareCredit.
